  • Happy New Year (Jan 2010)

I hope that everyone has had a blessed holiday season and is as excited to begin a new year as we are at HOH!  Our 2009 Country Christmas Dinner Theater was a rousing success again this year!  We are indeed blessed to have great community support, particularly in this time of economic hardship in our country.  We are only a few $ short of matching the funds raised at last year's record breaking dinner theater event!  WOW!

We will soon be posting and making new additions to this website and our Facebook page.  Keep your eyes out for all of the upcoming events we have planned.  There will be volunteer training coming up in Kansas soon that you won't want to miss.  We will be setting the dates for our summer camps in KS and other events that will be fun for the whole family.

We will soon have a page here dedicated to "The Belly Button Theory"(tm) which was the presentation that I did in Fort Worth.  I have had so much interest about this presentation that we will be putting it on the web to share with everyone.  I have had contact with a therapeutic riding center in Israel who wanted more information about "The Belly Button Theory" to share with their colleagues there.   Very exciting for me!

Have a Happy, Blessed and Peaceful 2010!

  • Jessie Naaykens and Chips Chocoholic are Big Winners with AQHA (March 2010)

Jessie Naaykens at AQHA Awards Banquet in FloridaJessie Naaykens at AQHA Awards Banquet in FloridaHorses of Hope is thrilled to announce that once again, a Show Team Hope and rider have done well in the AQHA Equestrians with DisabilitiesEWD) classes.  But this year, they have done it in a super big way that has never been done before.
Twenty-one year old Jessie Naaykens and twenty-one year old Chip Chocoholic made it a clean sweep of the awards for 2009!  They were the top placing horse and rider in all 4 events, Showmanship at Halter, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Horsemanship and Trail!
This is Jessie's 2nd year to participate on the show team and boy did she leave her mark.  Jessie is the most soft spoken person I have maybe ever met, but she lets her riding abilities do the talking for her when it comes to showing Chip.  Jessie and Chip melded into a fantastic team almost immediately.  Jessie's quiet manner and ability to take instruction made for a perfect match with Chip, who is a seasoned show veteran himself.  Chip was donated to us from Mrs. Betty Murfin and Nancy Murfin Moxley of Wichita KS about 5 years ago.  Chip has an amazing show record from his younger days with multiple top 10 placings at the American Quarter Horse World Championship Show and a list of show points several pages long.  Even though Chip has been a part of our show team for several years, this is the first AQHA, EWD honors he has won.  I think it just took the right combination of horse and rider to make things click for Chip, and boy have he and Jessie clicked!
Jessie and her family will be making a trip to Florida to accept her and Chip's awards.  We are so proud to have her as part of our Show Team Hope Family!
